Obituary of Jane L. Behnken

Jane L. Behnken, 85, a long-time resident of Totowa, died Friday the 10th of December peacefully in her sleep at the Lakeview Care Center in Wayne. Jane was predeceased by her husband, Herman who passed in 1992. She is survived by four children: Lynn Millar and husband Chris of Reston, Virginia, Gary Behnken and wife Teri of Cape Coral, Florida, Dr. Darlene Walode and husband Scott of Wayne, and Todd Behnken and wife Michele also of Wayne. She was blessed and deeply loved by her grandchildren, Ryan, Kelsey, and Melissa Behnken, Lindsay, Jackie, Melanie, and Jordan Walode all of Wayne. She dearly loved her adopted grandchildren, Kimberly Kibbe of Florida, Kate and Charlotte Millar,Jen Millar and Rebecca and Phill Higgs of New Zealand, Michael and Matthew Mizerek of Parsippany. Great grandchildren Kyleigh Kibbe , Ruby and Hugo Millar and Ronin Higgs. Jane was a long time member of the Happy Seniors of Totowa, and the United Methodist Church of Little Falls. She was a product inspector for Yardley of London and Scribner Books. She was always a high energy person who loved being with her family and friends. She was the eternal optimist, and had a tremendous faith in God. She was a breast cancer survivor who battled the disease many times over the past 35 years, and taught everyone who knew her many valuable life lessons. She enjoyed cooking and baking, had been a cub scout leader for her boys when they were young, was an avid reader, an enthusiastic Mets fan, and loved traveling with the Happy Seniors. Jane spent her last few years being cared for by her "family" at Lakeview who all gave her such loving attentive care. The funeral will be held on Monday, December 13 at 9:00 am at the funeral home. The funeral Mass will be at 10:00 am at Our Lady of Consolation R.C. Church, 1799 Hamburg Tpke, Wayne and will be celebrated by Fr. Michael Lombardo. Friends and family may visit from 2-4 & 7-9 pm on Sunday, December 12, 2010. Entombment will be in Laurel Grove Mausoleum, Totowa. Memorial donations may be made to the Youth Group of Our Lady of Consolation Parish, 1799 Hamburg Tpke, Wayne or the United Methodist Church, Main St, Little Falls.
