Obituary of Edward T. Paynton

Edward T. Paynton, age 86, died Saturday, September 21, 2013 at Compassionate Care Hospice, Dover. Mr. Paynton was born March 12, 1927 in Queens, NY the son of the late William Henry and the late Charlotte (Elges) Payton. He lived in Fair Lawn for many years before moving to Wayne 50 years ago. He was a proud US Navy veteran serving from 1945 to 1946. In October 1953, he married his wife, Marie Adele Gordon. Mr. Paynton was employed by ITT, Clifton, NJ as a Draftsman for over 30 years before retiring at the age of 62. He was an AFLCIO shop steward for ITT. Mr. Paynton was the loving father of Laura and her husband Mark Kraus and the devoted grandfather of Robert. He was predeceased by his wife Marie in 2012 and his brothers William, Frederick and Theodore. Visiting hours will be Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be Thursday at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home and will be celebrated by Rev. Carmela Vuoso-Murphy. Interment will be in Cedar Lawn Cemetery, Paterson.
