Obituary of Rose A. Wood

Rose A. (Van Houten) Wood, 92 years young, was taken into glory by our Lord Jesus Christ, March 10, 2010. Rose was born July 31, 1917 in Passaic, the daughter of the late Cornelius and the late Rose (Doremus) Van Houten. She has 2 brothers living: John Van Houten of Andover Nursing Home, Andover, NJ and Cornelius Van Houten in Florida. Deceased are 2 sisters: Elsie Koman and Cora Keyzer and a brother: Leonard Van Houten. Rose married Edward Wood of Fair Lawn, NJ in 1937 who passed away in 1978. During their loving marriage they had 1 son, Edward Wood, now of Prescott, Arizona and 3 daughters, Elsie Rose Cole, now of Rock Springs, Wyoming, Rose Ann L. (and Phil) Bjork of Dingmans Ferry, PA, with whom she lived with and was loved by for 26 years, and Diana (Holt) Claus of New Orleans, Louisiana. Rose enjoyed traveling and visiting her son Ed and his family in Arizona and her daughter Elsie and her family in Wyoming. Rose is also survived, and missed greatly by her 7 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews who loved her dearly. Rose was a fine Christian woman and served our Lord in all aspects of her life. She was a member of the Memorial Church of Totowa in Paterson and served on the Board of the Ladies Society and sang in the choir of the church. Moving to Pennsylvania with her daughter and son-in-law, she attended, with her family, the Milford Bible Church, Milford, PA. Visiting hours will be Tuesday from 7-9 p.m. The funeral will be Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Rob Elliot officiating. Interment will be in Laurel Grove Cemetery, Totowa.
