Obituary of Joan Sergeant

Joan (Kane) Sergeant, age 79, died Wednesday, December 23, 2009 at Sunrise Assisted Living, Alpharetta, GA. Mrs. Sergeant was born November 20, 1930 in Paterson, the daughter of the late Harold and the late Catherine (Spear) Kane. She lived in Alpharetta for the last 2 years and was formerly of Wayne. She was employed by Dr. Meyers in Paterson as a billing specialist before retiring. Mrs. Sergeant was a Eucharistic Minister and a member of the Rosary Altar Society at Holy Cross R.C. Church in Wayne. She was also a member of the National Council of Catholic Women. Mrs. Sergeant is survived by her loving children Patricia and her husband Edward O'Dea and Norman, Jr.; her cherished grandson, Brendan; and her dear sisters Pat Kaune, Elsie Zaky and the late Ida Sugalski. She was predeceased by her husband, Norman. Visiting hours will be Sunday from 2-5 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Cross R.C. Church, Holy Cross Wayne and will be celebrated by Fr. Charles J. Parr. Interment will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Totowa.
