Obituary of Teh Cheng Lo

Teh Cheng Lo, age 82, died Wednesday, December 16, 2009 at Chilton Memorial Hospital, Pequannock Twsp. He was born March 17, 1927 in Lungyan, Fukien, China the son of the late Tien Qua and the late Chien Tai (Hua) Lo. Mr. Lo has lived in Wayne since 1967. He earned a Masters of Science degree from Stevens Institute of Technology. He was a senior chemical engineering fellow at Hoffmann-LaRoche in Nutley for 33 years before retiring. Mr. Lo was a co-editor of "The Handbook of Solvent Extraction", one of the leading reference books in the field. Mr. Lo was named to the honorary post of adjunct visiting professor at the East China Institute of Chemical Technology in Shanghai in 1985. He also taught at the Universidad de Chile, the Federal University of Brazil as well as in Canada, Czechoslovakia, and Yugoslavia. Mr. Lo has also lectured widely in the U.S. and has served as session chairman and as an organizer of the International Solvent Extraction Conference. Mr. Lo is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years Nancy (Hsin-Yen Kuo); his loving sons Gen and Lawrence; his cherished grandson Steven; and his dear brother and sister, Lo Teh Lin and Lo May Chen. Visiting hours will be Friday from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. The funeral service will be Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home and will be celebrated by Rev. Mary Marcus. Interment will be in Preakness Reformed Cemetery, Wayne.
