Obituary of Raymond Onesti

Raymond Onesti, age 79, died Wednesday, July 15, 2009 at Health Center at Bloomingdale. Mr. Onesti was born September 24, 1929 in New York, the son of the late Bartolomeo and the late Margerita (Zucca) Onesti. He lived in Wayne and was formerly of Fort Lee. He served in the US Army during the Korean War. Mr. Onesti retired from the Upper Montclair Country Club in 1989 where he was a bar tender for over 25 years. He was a member of Our Lady of Consolation R.C. Church. Mr. Onesti was an avid Brooklyn Dodgers fan. He always had many baseball stories to share, his favorite being the day he pitched to Jackie Robinson. Mr. Onesti is survived by his beloved wife Diana (Dobbins); his loving children, Anita and her husband Robert Bontatibus and Raymond and his wife Sue Onesti; and his cherished grandsons, Anthony, Matthew and Ryan. Visiting hours will be Friday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday at 12:00 noon at Our Lady of Consolation R.C. Church, 1799 Hamburg Tpke., Wayne and will be celebrated by Fr. Michael D. Lombardo. Cremation will be in Laurel Grove Crematory, Totowa.
