Obituary of William S. Morris

William S. Morris, age 85, died Tuesday, September 5, 2006 at Atruim At Wayne, Wayne. Mr. Morris was born May 31, 1921 in New York, NY the son of the late Dr. Arthur and the late Kathleen (McHugh) Morris. He lived in Wayne. He served in the US Army Air Corps during World War II. He was lead navigator with the 15th Air Force, 465th Bomber Group with the rank of 1st lieutenant.He flew 48 combat missions among the honors he received were the following: Distinguished Flying Cross, Presidential Unit Citation with one oak leaf, Air Medal with 3 oak clusters, and the European, African and Middle Eastern Theatre ribbons. Mr. Morris received his Bachelor Degree in Hospital administration from New York University. He was the Director of Camp Hope from 1947-1967 as well as acting director of Camp Christmas Seal. His dedication stemmed from his belief that our youngsters are the greatest natural resource we have. There cant be a finer thing than our belief in youth. He was Vice President of the Passaic County GOP League. He was a Master Mason with the Genesis Lodge # 88, Pompton Lakes for over 58 years. Mr. Morris achieved his Eagle scout status with Boy Scouts of America and belonged to the Order of the Arrow. He was a past president of the American Camping association. He was deputy Coordinator of the Passaic County Civil Defense and was President of the Passaic County Health and Welfare Association. He was the 1st treasurer and a founding member of St. Michaels Episcopal Church, Wayne. He was the owner of the William Morris Associates Realty Brokerage in Wayne. He was the devoted father of William C.Morris , James M. Morris , Jane K. Morris, Ann E. and her husband Barry D. Bogert. Loving grandfather of Clinton E., James C. and Andrew E.Morris, Cherished brother of Charlotte Hirsch of Florida. He was predeceased by his Beloved wife of 57 years Jane [ nee Christopher ] , a son Edward D. Blockburger, his sister Patricia and a brother Richard. A memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2006 at 7:30 pm at St. Michaels Episcopal Church,1219 Ratzer Rd, Wayne.
