Obituary of Vivian Augustine Vinopal

Vivian Augustine Vinopal, 107 years old, died on September 18 while in hospice care at Vitas Healthcare on the campus of St. Joseph's Hospital in Wayne, NJ. She was a resident of Winchester Gardens Continuing Care in Maplewood, NJ. Born in New York City on January 23, 1914, she was raised on the family property, "Reposoir", on the Caribbean island of Dominica. In her teens, she and her Mother returned to New York City where, in 1931, she met and eventually married her husband, Morris Vinopal. During WWII, while her husband served in the Pacific, she ran the family business, City Music Center, which was then located in Irvington, NJ. Vivian was preceded in death by her husband, Morris, and is survived by her sister, Lorraine; three children, Alec, Guy and Valerie; three grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Services were private by request of the family and donations in her memory can be made to St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 451 Van Houten St. Paterson, NJ 07501.
