Memories of Stephano....
Yes Stephano. That’s how Stephen signed his pottery. I’m so happy to have several of his treasured pieces in my home. And they are more treasured today as sweet remembrances of Steven’s talents. They remind me too of his generosity of spirit. He retaught me how to throw on the potters wheel in preparing me to teach Clay Workshop at Lakeland Regional HS. He was so patient, so giving of his time. He renewed my love for the medium of clay. He never grew weary of helping me nor answering my numerous questions. That was Stephen!
Steven , Pat Levendusky and I were the “ Three Musketeers “ of the art department for almost three decades. We wrote curriculum together, developed department goals, ordered supplies and set up and handled the logistics of the classrooms. We grew close in friendship and in respect for one another as colleagues and educators. We loved and supported one another.....”all for one and one for all.”
My heart is very heavy . I have waited to write on this site as my heart was broken. Stephen was one of the good guys. He was a man of many talents.... generous of heart and the dearest of friends. Joanie and Stephen were family. I remember the day when Amy was born. We shared a lot of ups and downs over those three decades. I am so thankful for those years together. God used them to blessed me.
Blessings and love to you dear Stephano.

Steve was one of the nicest guys I have ever worked with in my 3 decades at Lakeland Regional High School. He always had a smile on his face, a kind word and a positive vibe. Whether in the faculty room, hallway or around campus, Steve was always a positive person to be around. He was a help and support throughout my years as both a teacher and a Vice Principal. The students loved Mr. Palmino and he loved them. He gave his time and energy and put his heart and soul into his profession. He was a great teacher and an even better person. Steve has earned his place in paradise and will be missed.

Stephen was one of the first friends I made when I moved to Bloomingdale from Metuchen, NJ in 1979 when I started teaching at Lakeland. He helped the "newbee" navigate through the maze of rules and procedures that were Lakeland. After he left Lakeland in 1999, and I continued to work there until January 2018, we stayed in close contact and always tried to manage getting together for lunch and until recently breakfast at IHOP. I could always count on him for his willingness to help, his sage advice, his smile no matter how bad things looked and his "off color" sense of humor. I always counted him one of my dearest, closed friends. I do not believe in having a herd of friends because I think you really only need a handful of close, dear friends, and Stephen was always one of those.
I will miss him dearly. Eternal peace my dear friend.

I remember Steve. I remember his concern for people that manifested itself in his First Aid Squad service and the countless little everyday things he did for others. I remember his passion for politics in trying to use his political beliefs to help others. I remember his dedication to the Wayne Democratic Organization and Club. How for years he would help set up the democratic booth at 8am on Wayne Day, would be at the booth for most of the day and be ther at 5pm take down. I remember him spending hours assembling candidates signs and when finished would volunteer to take the empty cartons to recycling. I remember him canvasing for candidates even when he was not feeling well. I remember his commitment to the democratic club and the principals for which it stands. But most of all I remember his love of all people and especially his wife Joan daughter and family. I remember Steve and I miss him!

Steve was one of the good guys. We both worked at Lakeland RHS for years. Although we taught at opposite ends of the school we were always part of the same friendly family. Rest peacefully, Steve.

Steve and I worked together at Lakeland Regional HS our whole careers. We shared many memories and good times at our school, s From the first years in the “old building” the art and industrial arts teachers shared the wing of the school that housed the gym, auditorium, shops and art classrooms. We’d congregate in the Hall between classes, monitoring the the kids, sharing classroom stories, joking and laughing. Even when the “new building” opened up and we were separated by distance and s 2nd floor we found ways to meet in the teachers cafe for morning coffee, and lunch. We saw our school grow, our programs blossom, and our communities come to realize what a gift it was to have such exceptional programs. Steve was always at the forefront in making the Art Program outstanding and popular, He was a gifted instructor, a popular teacher, a respected colleague and a good friends. God bless him and may he Rest In Peace. Jean and I want to extend our sympathy and condolences to his family.
