Obituary of Raymond Linfante

Raymond Linfante, age 89, died Friday, January 13, 2017 at Clara Maass Medical Center in Belleville. Mr. Linfante was born November 22, 1927 in Newark, NJ the son of the late Ercole "Nick" and the late Rose (Victorielli) Linfante. He lived in Belleville since 1970. He served in the US Army during the Korean War where he was also a prisoner of war for 28 months. In June of 1950 he was awarded the American Legion Certificate of Honor by the Blue & Gray Post #275 for his proud service to his country. Early in his life he and his brother Lynn were partners in the gas station at the corner of Summer Ave and Bloomfield Ave in Newark and later also partners in Lynne's Bar in Newark. Ray went on to be was a security guard at Wallace & Tiernan in Belleville and until the age of 88 he was a driver for Dial-A-Ride. He was also a parishioner at the Holy Family R.C. Church in Nutley. Ray was the beloved father of Janet and her husband John Taggart of Wayne and devoted grandfather of Jenna and Michael. He was also the loving uncle of many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife the former Theresa DeBenedetto in 2004. Relatives and friends are invited to meet at Moore's Home for Funerals, 1591 Alps Rd. in Wayne at 8 AM on Tuesday January 17, 2017 and then follow to the funeral Mass at 9:30 AM at Holy Family R.C. Church, 28 Brookline Avenue, Nutley which will be celebrated by Fr. Michael D. Lombardo. Interment will follow in Glendale Cemetery, Bloomfield. Visitation will on Monday January 16, 2017 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM.
