Obituary of Stephen John Palmino
Stephen John Palmino, passed away on April 22, 2020 after a long illness. He was 74.
Stephen was born in Santo Stefano del Sole, in Avellino, Italy. He immigrated to the United States in 1955 and settled in Paterson NJ with his parents and younger brother, Jerry, who has predeceased him.
Upon graduation from Kansas State in 1969, he served in the Army National Guard. In 1970, he became an art teacher for Lakeland Regional HS in Wanaque until his retirement in 1999. After his retirement he trained to become an EMT and served on the Wayne Township First Aid Squad, and The Haledon, now North Haledon First Aid Squad, where he was Captain and a lifetime member. He was president of the Wayne Democratic Club, and an active participant in the club throughout his membership. He was a member of the Lakeland Unitarian Universalist Fellowship in Wayne NJ. He will be remembered there for all of the items he repaired and replaced.
He will be remembered most as the guy you could count on to help when needed at any time.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Joan (Affe) Palmino; daughter AmyLynn and her fiancé James Valenti; sister-in-law Susanne Sental and her husband Craig, brother-in-law George Affe; and cousins Lois Spagnola, and Amy Ambrosone and her husband John. He is also survived by his nephews Michael Sental, Owen Affe; niece Lauren Affe; and his grandnephew Carter Sental, and grandniece Kaila Sental.
