Obituary of William Preston Lawrence, Sr.

William P. Lawrence, Sr., age 86, passed away on Tuesday, May 8, 2018. Mr. Lawrence was born in Paterson, the son of the late Abraham and the late Madeline (Randolph) Lawrence. Before moving to Wayne, he was formerly of Totowa, then a 30-year resident of Largo, Florida. Mr. Lawrence was a proud US Army veteran serving during the Korean war. He was employed by Hawthorne Spring Company as a precision spring maker for many years before starting his own company, Bell Springs in Wayne.

Mr. Lawrence was an avid Yankee, Giants, and Knicks fan and in the 1960's, he coached Totowa little league baseball.

Mr. Lawrence is survived by his beloved wife of almost 66 years, Mary (Livingstone); his two sons, William, Jr. and his wife Angela, and Glenn; his devoted grandson, William P., III and his fiancé Ashley Diez; his dear sisters Madeline Muth and Elizabeth Vaccaro; his good friend, Roffie; many nieces and nephews; and his dog and faithful companion, Brooklyn.

Visiting hours will be Friday, May 11, 2018 from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Relatives and friends are welcome to attend the funeral on Saturday at 8:30 a.m. at the funeral home and the Mass at 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Consolation R.C. Church, 1799 Hamburg Tpke, Wayne which will be celebrated by Fr. Michael D. Lombardo.

Interment will follow Laurel Grove Memorial Park, Totowa.
