Obituary of Gladys Ida Healy

Gladys Ida (Schatz) Healy, age 86, died Friday, January 13, 2017 at St. Joseph's Wayne Hospital. Mrs. Healy was born May 23, 1930 in Paterson, the daughter of the late August and the late Ruth Schatz. After her mother’s passing Gladys was raised by her father, August and his wife Henrietta. She grew up in in Haledon and graduated in 1944 from the Haledon Grammar school, and in 1948 from Paterson Central high school. Before retiring, she was employed by Passaic County Adjusters Office in Paterson as Chief Clerk and previously at the Passaic County Welfare Department. She was an active member of the Grace United Presbyterian Church, Wayne. She is survived by her sister Gail Abbott; her sister-in-law Jeanette Vera Albrecht; her nephew Nevin and his wife Pauline Albrecht; her niece Althea and her husband Wayne Gidos; her nieces: Sharon Handler and Donna Collins, and her nephews: Edward E., Bruce, Dwight and Donald, as well as many great-nieces and great-nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Norman G. Healy, and her sister, Dorothy Reardon. Visiting hours will be Tuesday, January 17, 2017 from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. The funeral will be Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home and will be celebrated by Rev. Andrew Smith. Interment will follow at Laurel Grove Memorial Park, Totowa. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Grace United Presbyterian Church, 981 Preakness Ave, Wayne, NJ 07470
