Obituary of John Joseph Fitzpatrick, Sr.

John Joseph Fitzpatrick, Sr., 76, entered eternity on July 2nd 2016 comfortably at home in Hasbrouck Heights, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Jersey City, on August 20, 1939 he was the son of the late Terence and Anna Fitzpatrick. March 14, 1963 John enlisted the U.S. Army in Fort Worth, Washington and served his tour in Alaska. He was honorably discharged on April 30th 1969. John was known as a cherished husband, beloved father, grandfather and an adoring uncle. He will be remembered for his dedication to his family, amazing strength and integrity of character, and greatly missed for his hilarious, witty sense of humor. By trade, he was a millwright/carpenter with Hudson County Carpenters Local # 6 for over 30 years. John also was a licensed Realtor. John met the love of his life Nancy Jean "Cookie" in 1968. They have four children, Katrina, Ladonna, Heather and John, a son-in-law Jairo and a daughter-in-law Lisa, eight grandchildren, Haley, Jamar, Dylan, Sarah, Jacob, Aaron, Samantha, and Joshua, and one great granddaughter; Julia Eve. He is also survived by his three beautiful sisters Gwendolyn "Gwenie", Elizabeth "Lizzie", Helen "Nellie", brother-in-laws Michael "Mike", Howard "Howie", Charles "Charlie" and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father Terence, "Poppy", mother Anna, "Nanny", lovingly called "Booty", his brother: Terence "Terry", a sister Roseann "Rosie" and a nephew Terance "Terry Jim" Please join us on July 16, 2016 at 12 pm for a celebration of his life and memorial service at the funeral home. In Lieu of Flowers, memorial donations in honor of John can be made to Father's Heart Ministry and would be deeply appreciated. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
