Obituary of Joan Meriam Payne

Joan Meriam (Van Schaik) Payne, age 85, died Monday, May 16, 2016 at Compassionate Care Hospice, Dover. Mrs. Payne was born July 15, 1930 in North Haledon, the daughter of the late Herbert and the late Tillie (Vreeland) Van Schaik. She lived in Newton and was formerly of Butler and Vernon. Mrs. Payne was a homemaker and a member of Christ Community Church in Highland Lakes. Mrs. Payne is survived by her beloved children, Kathy and her husband Brian Lippi, Nancy and her husband Steve VanDyk, David and his wife Jai Payne, and Brian and his wife Lisa Payne; her loving grandchildren, Jenn, Steven, Megan, Kaitlyn, Jenna, Bethany and Leah; her cherished great-grandchildren, Aidan, Elizabeth, Abigail and Ceili; and her dear siblings, Tillie Van Slooten, Gloria Molt and Elias Van Schaik. Visiting hours will be Wednesday, May 18, 2016 from 6-8 p.m. Friends are welcome to attend the funeral service on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Ponds Reformed Cemetery in Oakland.
