Obituary of Richard H. Gutches

Richard H. Gutches, age 86, died Sunday, May 17, 2015 at home after a debilitating illness. Mr. Gutches was born May 10, 1929 in Garfield, NJ the son of the late James and the late Velma (Poch) Gutches. He lived in Wayne and was formerly of Garfield and Paterson. During World War II he was employed by Wright Aeronautical making propellers. After losing his brother Ralph and his father he was unable to serve in the military. Rich worked in the vending business for Canteen Vending Services. His great love for music allowed him to form a band called the "Dick Richards Band" which played for all occasions. He was a member of the local musicians union # 248. As a retired senior, he became a crossing guard for Wayne Township which filled his days with pleasure. Mr. Gutches was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Valley R.C. Church, Wayne. He is survived by his beloved wife: Joyce (Gatti) Gutches, two sons: Richard L. and his wife Deborah and James M. and his wife Diana Marie and a grandson, Richard E. Visiting hours will be Friday from 3-8 PM. The funeral service will be Friday evening at 6:00 pm and will be celebrated by Fr. Michael Burke. Private Cremation will follow.
